Drop Ins
3 hour sessions for experienced makers/potters
Course Details
Drop ins are designed for those who have attended a previous class/es at London Clay, or are experienced makers/potters who would like to continue to develop their throwing or hand building skills. The drop ins operate on a pay-as-you-go system. - You’ll be able to book and pay online up to an hour before a session. - Each session will be a minimum of 3 hrs at £14 per hr. - You will need to factor in clean down time into this time. - It will include the use of the studio’s tools, glazes and shared use of a scheduled kiln firing. - If you make a large amount of work or large pieces that require exclusive kiln use, this would be an additional cost of £50 per firing. - There will be a small amount of shelf storage space for drop ins, but please note that this is limited to a maximum 30cm x 40cm. - If you make a large body/piece of work which will require more storage space, this will be an additional cost of £5 per 30cm x 40cm per week. - You will also be responsible for keeping your pieces wet, to work on for the next time you drop in, but we will also try and help manage that with you. - Our regular classes have between 6 to 8 people, so we will always have 4 spaces available for drop ins, on a first come first serve basis, 2 on the wheel and 2 at a table. FAQs * We will provide aprons (not split leg) but do bring your own if you prefer. * It’s always good to have an idea of what you’d like to make, but we can also help and guide you with this. Sometimes it’s worth making a rough sketch of what you might like to make. We can help guide you on how to go about making it, but be aware, mainly for the day classes, if this is a complicated form you may not have the time to create this in one class. * It is advised to remove long necklaces and all hand jewellery when working with clay. * Long finger nails and false nails don’t work well with throwing or hand building. * Hair will need to be tied back where applicable for safety reasons. * Please wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. * Food is not permitted to be consumed in the studio due to contamination, but do feel free to eat outside in our seating area. * NB: Not all pieces will be fired. Some pieces may be too thick to fire due to their potential explosion in the kiln. This will be left to the discretion of the kiln technician. * Pieces not picked up within the given time frame will be removed due to limited studio space. * We have a bathroom with wheelchair access.
